Privacy Policy

Paisee is a local-first, private expense tracker for Android. Last updated July 19, 2026.

Paisee is built around a simple promise: your money is yours, and so is your data. This policy explains what that means in practice.

What we collect

Paisee does not operate an account database, analytics service, advertising service, or backup server. Transactions, notes, budgets, custom category names, your name, monthly income, salary day, and currency are saved only in the app's local storage on your device.

No account, no tracking

You don't need a Paisee account or login to use the app. Paisee contains no analytics, no advertising SDKs, no crash reporting, and no third-party trackers.

Network access

Paisee loads its fonts (DM Serif Display, DM Sans, DM Mono) from the app bundle, not from a network. Manual budgeting features work offline. If you use voice expense entry, your device's speech-recognition service may process microphone audio on-device or send it to its service provider, depending on your operating system, recognizer, language, and device settings. Network access may also be used when you explicitly share or export a report, or when you opt into Google Drive backup (which signs you into Google and uploads a backup file you create to Google's private app-data folder).

Your data, on your device

All transactions, settings, recurring rules, reminder preferences, and optional Android SMS suggestions are stored using your operating system's local key-value storage (AsyncStorage on Android, IndexedDB on web). They stay on your device unless you choose to use voice recognition, share/export them, or create a Google Drive backup. Voice processing is governed by your device's speech-service provider and its privacy terms. SMS bodies used for detection are parsed locally and are not uploaded by Paisee.

Optional voice transaction entry

The microphone button on Home lets you speak an amount and category. Paisee requests microphone and speech recognition permission only when you use this feature. Recognized words are held temporarily to show a confirmation before saving; raw audio and the full transcript are not stored by Paisee. Only the transaction you approve — amount, matched category, and any parsed note — is saved locally. Speech-recognition providers may process audio according to your device settings and their own policies. You can deny permission and continue using manual entry.

Optional Android SMS transaction detection

On Android, Settings → Security → Detect transactions from SMS is an opt-in feature. When enabled, Paisee requests SMS read/receive permission to scan the last 30 days of messages and watch for new bank, UPI, and card debit or credit alerts. Parsing happens entirely on your device. Message bodies are never uploaded to Paisee. Detected transactions appear in a review inbox; nothing becomes a saved transaction until you confirm it. Suggestions that do not match your selected currency are ignored. You can dismiss suggestions, turn the feature off, or deny SMS permission and continue using manual or voice entry.

Optional Google Drive backup

Settings → Data → Google Drive backup is an opt-in feature. When you back up, Paisee requests Google sign-in and the Drive app-data scope, then uploads a single backup file containing your transactions, settings, recurring rules, and SMS review state to Google's private appDataFolder for your account. Paisee does not operate its own backup server. Encryption with a recovery password is on by default; if you disable encryption, the backup is stored as plaintext JSON in that private Drive folder. Access tokens are short-lived and not stored by Paisee. You can restore or delete the Drive backup at any time. Google's own privacy policy governs data stored in Drive.

Optional local reminders

Settings → Reminders lets you enable a daily logging reminder and alerts for due recurring entries. These are scheduled as local notifications on your device. Paisee does not send push notifications from a server. You can deny notification permission and continue using the app without reminders.

Sharing and exporting your data

Settings → Data → Share & export data lets you create a branded Paisee PDF report or a CSV file for any month or for all time. On a phone, Share PDF opens your operating system's native share sheet so you can send it through email, messaging, or files apps. Download CSV is for spreadsheet use. These exports are plaintext once you share or save them. Paisee does not see or store the destination you pick.

Custom categories

You can create custom category names in Settings. Those names are stored with your local data and included in exports you create. Archiving a custom category hides it from new entries but keeps historical transactions labeled correctly.

Optional App Lock

Settings → Security → App Lock lets you require fingerprint or your device passcode when opening Paisee and after the app has been in the background for about 30 seconds. Authentication is performed entirely by your operating system. Paisee never receives, stores, or transmits your biometric data or passcode. App Lock conceals the app interface; it does not encrypt the local database by itself.

Resetting your data

Settings → Data → Reset all data permanently deletes everything stored locally — transactions, budgets, custom categories, your profile, onboarding state. This cannot be undone. Uninstalling the app also removes all locally stored data, subject to your device's normal app-removal behaviour.

Children

Paisee is a general-audience budgeting tool. We recommend that a parent or guardian help younger users.
